Active defense, quick ball movement and sharing possessions are all important elements for our development formula. I really like our current rotation. Dennis (Schroder) is an excellent one-on-one defender who can start defending guys like Maxey right from the get-go—this is a huge advantage for us.
Beyond setting the tone on defense, he has also excelled at pushing pace. He’s been instructed to play faster; if he doesn’t have the ball, he needs to sprint ahead instead of going back to retrieve it. This adjustment takes time since he's joining mid-season without having gone through training camp—it requires adaptation for anyone involved in such changes.
I feel his performance on perimeter defense has changed games significantly and gives us more advantages against other teams.
